Football for Hope | Chapter News | Opportunities and Events | Special Thanks
Hello all,
Yesterday saw Spain crash the Dutch party in the last minutes of a grueling two hour World Cup final. As the festivities came to a close the legacy of the 2010 World Cup continues. FIFAs "20 Centres for 2010" is on track to build twenty youth sports centers that address challenges to improve education and health services. Many thanks to our partners FIFA and streetfootballworld and the dozens of local architects that are part of this program. This month we highlight their heroic work.
Today saw the six month anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti. Our team on the ground is hard at work, with a particular focus on transitional to permanent school building. Today we began an open RFP process for local organizations looking to build and repair schools ( French and Kreole). Our co-founder has been blogging regularly and wrote a little op-ed on The Last Responders, those working from the reconstruction phase. Here is look back at the reconstruction plan we wrote six months ago this week.
Next week we announce the rebuilding projects we're supporting in Chile. Later this month the Homeless World Cup Legacy Center breaks ground in Santa Cruz, Brazil as well as school building in Uganda. We've just begun working with Happy Hearts Fund and ING Direct on school building in Peru and Mexico.
The Open Architecture Network (OAN) has added a 'Share' tool. Simply click on the share tab or write ‘/share' at the end of an OAN url and you can embed project slideshows on Facebook, your firm site, personal blog, etc. Also on the OAN is the submission process for Design Like Give A Damn 2. We've found some awesome nominees but are looking for more. If you know of a project, or one you've done yourself, don't be shy - submit it today. The submission period ends this month.
Finally, if you're a small non-profit, business or individual in San Francisco looking for desk space with good karma, we may have what you're looking for. Please emailJason Olson for more info. Added bonus, you get to sit in on our Wednesday lunch and learn sessions - last week the team from Equity Community Builders, this week Michelle Kaufmann!
Cheers,
The Architecture for Humanity Team

ps. If you have a project on the Open Architecture Network it may appear on our upcoming iPad app, that will be on display at the Museum of Modern Art this fall. Upload yours today and stay tuned.

Architecture for Humanity Charleston has launched the chapter's first open design competition, called "The HuB." If you had a magic wand, what would you change in Charleston?
